Common questions

Is this the noodle you eat?

No. Everything on these shelves is closed-cell polyethylene foam. The phrase oodles of noodles has been in English since long before it appeared on a packet of instant ramen, and the food brand that once used it was renamed decades ago — so if you came looking for a food item with an ingredients list, this is the wrong aisle. Nothing here is edible and there is nothing to slurp.

What are Oodles of Noodles pool noodles made of?

Closed-cell polyethylene foam, extruded as a tube and cut to length. The cells do not fill with water, which is why a noodle still floats on the last day of the holiday.

How long is a standard noodle?

The standard tube is approx. 48 inch long and 2.5 inch in diameter. Jumbo stock runs 3.5 inch across at 55 inch long, and the MEGA sizes reach 5 inch across at up to six foot.

Where can I find cheap pool noodles?

Price per tube drops sharply with pack size. A pack of two is a convenience buy; the 25-pack and 50-pack are what bring the per-noodle figure down, which is why swim schools order that way.

Why are pool noodles expensive some years?

Foam tracks the price of resin and of freight, and a noodle is mostly air inside a big box — shipping costs more than the material. That is also why a pack of fifty is better value than twenty-five packs of two.

Can I cut a noodle down?

Yes. A bread knife gives the cleanest cut on hollow stock, and a long serrated blade suits solid core. Sand the cut end lightly if it will be handled by small children.

Do you sell the noodles yourself?

No. The pages here describe the range and link to the listing that sells each pack. Payment, delivery and returns all happen at that shop.

How current is a price on this site?

It is read from the live listing and refreshed, but foam prices move with the season. The stamp on each card opens the listing so you can see the figure that applies right now.

A pack is missing from a lane — can you add it?

Usually, yes. Send the listing address to the deck and it will go in at the next sweep if it is a foam product under this name.

Why are some packs out of stock all winter?

Pool foam is seasonal. Large packs sell through by late summer and return in spring, often under a different piece count.
