Size the rod about a quarter wider than the gap, roll it in with a blunt tool so the skin stays intact, then tool the sealant over the top. Buy once and the tubes usually outlast the swimsuit they were bought with

On 1"3/4 Roll cage, the foam was about a 1/4" from fully covering. Each stick was only 35". If you're looking for exactly 36", be aware. Real good, dense foam. Holes were offset towards the side of the cut making the padded side extra thick.
I have a metal IKEA futon where the frame is exposed (new mattress that doesn't cover by an inch). I kept banging my shin on the frame, so I bought these as "cushion" - it's about the length of a full bed (a little longer, just short of a queen). Two went across the frame and it is working well so far. There is a few uncovered inches, but that's okay overall. Very sturdy product and didn't break when I had to bend it a little to fit the frame.
I bought this as jeep padding and did not work for me.. they are thicker than needed and won't go completing around bar.. and skins won't zip up with them on!
